How Do I Get There?

GPS Coordinates: N 38 degrees 44.375′ W 109 degrees 20.647′
The elevation: 4,211 feet

The Hauer Ranch may not be easily recognized by Internet map Web sites (Google, Bing, etc.).

Smartphone mapping systems are not reliable in the desert region around Moab. Please review our written directions. If you must use an address, use Highway 128, Mile Marker 21. This will get you to within one mile of the ranch, where the gravel driveway turns toward the Colorado River from Highway 128. This is the same intersection for Fisher Towers, which is on the opposite side of the highway. The ranch is located on the river side of the highway, and shares a driveway with the Lower Onion Creek Campground. After leaving the highway, heading toward the river, the gravel driveway divides. Hauer Ranch guests will take a right-hand turn to the Hauer Ranch. Follow the small white signs into the ranch and up to the horse barns.

WATCH FOR THE SIGNS AND HAVE YOUR WRITTEN DIRECTIONS IN HAND. This is remote desert and there are no billboards to mark the way. Review the map on this Web site. Cell phones do not work well in the Colorado River Corridor, so if you get off track, you may not be able to call out.

Directions from downtown Moab:

It takes about 35 minutes to drive to the ranch from downtown Moab. Drive north out of Moab on Highway 191 to the Colorado River and turn right onto Highway 128 (the River Road); drive on it until you reach Mile Marker 21. This is the same intersection for Fisher Towers, but turn left, or west, toward the river, not east to Fisher Towers. Once on this dirt road, drive for 1/2 mile until the road divides. Bear right, through an open green gate. You are now on the Hauer Ranch, and you will see several buildings. When the road divides next, take another right and drive up to the barns. Park by the horse trailers.

Directions from Grand Junction, Colorado:

The Hauer Ranch is about 75 miles from Grand Junction. To access the ranch directly from Interstate 70, take the Cisco exit and drive on the frontage road to Highway 128. Travel on Highway 128 for about 21 miles to Mile Marker 21. This is the same intersection for Fisher Towers, but turn right, or west, toward the river, not east to Fisher Towers. Once on this dirt road, drive for 1/2 mile until the road divides. Bear right, through an open green gate. You are now on the Hauer Ranch, and you will see several buildings. When the road divides next, take another right, and drive up to the barns. Park by the horse trailers.
