Getting to Kinkara Luxury Retreat

Kinkara Luxury Retreat is located in the breezy foothills of Costa Rica's Talamanca mountain range, with an elevation of 3,000ft (915m) above sea level. The property is conveniently located 20 minutes from San Isidro del General, the largest city in Costa Rica's southern zone, and positioned just southwest of Cerro Chirripó, Costa Rica's highest mountain.

Reaching Kinkara Luxury Retreat is easy. There are 3 ways to get to the property, each of which is detailed below. 

Fly to Kinkara Luxury Retreat

Kinkara Luxury Retreat can be reached by a 35-minute commercial flight from San José to San Isidro Airfield, followed by a short ground transfer to the property (additional fee applies). Flights are carbon-neutral and operated by Sansa Airlines twice a day, four days a week. Flight schedules can be found on the airline website.


Alternatively, you can take a private charter flight directly to or from the on-property airstrip from one of Costa Rica's international airports - Juan Santamaria Airport (35 mins) or Liberia International Airport (1 hour). You will be greeted with a refreshing beverage and a cool towel.

Arrange a private Driver

The property can arrange a private shuttle service for you (additional fee applies). They will meet you at Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO), Liberia International Airport (LIR), or from anywhere else in Costa Rica and bring you directly to the retreat. You'll travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with complimentary snacks and water, and your driver will be happy to make stops along the way for bathroom breaks and photo opportunities.

    High Season – December to April: Glorious, sunny and typically rain-free days ranging from 75-95 degrees (F), perfect for guests wanting to trade their winter parkas for a pair of shorts. Rates begin at 240.00.

    Green Season – May to November: Days tend to bring a few hours of rain, most often in the afternoon and at night. The rains are “warm” and often come and go quickly. In most cases they will not influence activities or tours. A good time to visit for guests who seek lower international airfares, discounted room rates and more comfortable heat. Rates begin at 190.00.
