How Do I Get There?

The exact address of Samasati is:

“Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Limon, from the public school in Hone Creek 800 meters towards Carbon 1 street”

Driving Directions

Samasati is located 130 miles from San Jose international airport. It is a very scenic drive that will take about 4 hours. We strongly recommend that if you are driving a rented vehicle, you leave the city of San Jose around noon, the latest at 2 PM so you arrive to Samasati during daylight hours.

From your starting point, get directions to the Guapiles/Limon Highway. This is a road that winds up into the cloudy mountains of Braulio Carrillo’s National Park before crossing the Santa Clara flatlands into Puerto Limon.

Once you get to Limon, please follow directions to Cahuita and Puerto Viejo.  Samasati is 30 miles South of  Limón in the direction of Puerto Viejo. It is located in the Hone Creek village area. About five miles after passing Cahuita National Park’s entrance, you’ll find a street on your right hand side, just between the Gas Station of Hone Creek and the supermarket “Pali”.

Samasati’s entrance’s gate is about 1/2 mile inland from the main road. Samasati’s restaurant and accommodations are located one mile uphill from the entrance gate. There is a reception area at the entrance gate. Here you will find out how to proceed with your 4×4 vehicle or where to park your car (no fee) and wait for a Samasati vehicle if your vehicle is not a 4x4.

Samasati’s entrance’s office is open between 8 AM and 5 PM every day. Samasati’s entrance gate will is closed after 8:00 PM.
