Reservation and Cancellation Policy
All canceled reservations received 46 or more days prior to arrival are subject to a 10% cancellation penalty.
Reservations canceled within 45 days of the scheduled arrival date are subject to a 50% penalty.
Reservations canceled within 30 days of the scheduled arrival date are subject to a 100% penalty and are responsible for the entire stay and will forfeit all payments.

How Do I Get There?
Due to the isolated location of Makumu, vehicle access is via 4x4 vehicle only. It is recommended that for International tourists, the airport at Hoedspruit Eastgate airport is utilized. With two daily flights from Johannesburg (OR Tambo) to Eastgate, this is the more viable option. For any visitor either arriving or departing for the Cape, there are two weekly flights to Cape Town. All guests utilizing the airport will be met by Makumu representatives and transferred to the Lodge, transfer time is approximately 1 hour.
Makumu Game Lodge is a luxurious and intimate establishment situated in the ‘Big Five’ Klaserie Private Nature Reserve in Hoedspruit, South Africa. The lodge is at once welcoming, inviting and relaxing, and surrounds you with the warmth, the earthy colors and the rich textures of Africa.
The lodge features three luxury two-bedroom villas which come alive by candlelight in the evenings and offer a sense of intimacy, warmth and elegance. Each villa is individually furnished and designed with intricate detail representing the history and ancient culture.
Makumu's game drives are conducted by their experienced rangers and shangaan tracker and offer guests the chance to experience the unfenced, untamed wilderness of the surrounding Klaserie Reserve. With the abundance of bird life, the magical fauna and flora as well as the amazing roaming wildlife, they strive for an authentic safari experience.
Dinner is served on the boma deck situated on the banks of the non-perennial Dundee river bed. Pre-arranged massages are available in privacy from the top deck overlooking the African Bushveld. For the more energetic the property offers the treadmill, bicycle and rowing machine.
