Jacob Riis Park is in Rockaway, within the Gateway Recreation Area of New York and New Jersey. Summer and fall are the perfect seasons to visit Riis beach. Quiet sunrise beach walks give way to the bustling "people's beach", with the Riis Park Beach Bazaar's food vendors, beach equipment rentals & regular live entertainment scattered up and down the boardwalk. Biking, birding, whale watching, fishing, hiking and more are just a short walk away in historic Fort Tilden

Accommodations at Camp Rockaway include furnished safari tents. Just steps from the ocean, the property offers a communal fire pit, a picnic area, camp store, hammocks and games.

Recreational beach camping in Rockaway was popularized at the turn of the century. The first wave of development brought bathing clubs, boardwalks, hotels, tent communities and roller coasters to Rockaway Beach in the early 1900s. Today, a new wave of creative business owners are rebuilding and revitalizing Rockaway. Re-imagined for a new century, Camp Rockaway fuses beach camping heritage with modern amenities.

NOTE: There is a maximum of 2 adults and 1 child per tent.

If your child will sleep in the tent with you and requires a cot (the camping version of a roll-away), they can be rented for an additional $75. Cots come with a sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, pillow and a free s'mores pack. Please note in your reservation that you would like to rent a cot.

This property is closed for the season and will reopen for 2020 in the spring. Stay tuned for updates on when reservations will open up for 2020.
