Written by: Alexandria Autrey
Sometimes the flashing lights and city sounds become just a little too much for all of us. We start daydreaming about a getaway that will get us out of our daily routines. That's why we've handpicked the best glamping destinations in California to go glamping. Whether a California native or a new vistior there are plenty of ideal glamping spots. There are awe inspiring activities for all ages. A visit to a national park, wine tasting, a scenic bike ride or a kayak excursion are a few of our favorites. You and your fellow glampers will be dreaming of endless possibilites.
Located just fives miles from Topanga Beach, on a rustic farm. This farm backs up to a national park with an abundance of activities, complimentary wine and cheese, and a hot tub that sits under the stars. Topanga Canyon is perfectly situated for an amazing tipi holiday where you can escape the maddening crowds of the city, yet is just a few minutes drive to the cool and trendy shops and a great choice of superb local beaches. Tipi glamping is a way to experience the splendor of the outdoors without forgoing the creature comforts you can't live without like a hot shower, continental breakfast, wifi and a complimentary wine an cheese.
Santa Barbara Auto Camp is a place where old meets new. This glamping resort has been operating continuously since 1922, this place marries classic Americana style and modern design to create an exceptional urban lodging experience.
Each trailer comfortably sleeps four people and has been renovated. The units feature all new, all electric appliances, modern fixtures and creature comforts found in more traditional luxury lodging. Each Airstream also comes with its own outdoor barbecue grill and the complimentary use of two retro-style beach cruisers to explore the area.
The adobe motor lodge was considered modern in 1957 and 50 years later Glen Oaks Big Sur has a fresh rustic-modern and Green sensibility. Our remake takes the lead from the original natural adobe walls, known for keeping the hot sun out and the warmth in, and uses recycled and renewable stone, Peroba wood, bamboo, resin, wool carpets and organic cotton for a healthy and natural environment. Walk-in showers are evocative of showering in the forest, but the stylish chrome and porcelain fixtures will bring you back to the modern world. Whether you are out on a hike, or cozy in your room, you are never far from the warmth and color of nature. The natural wool blankets by Pendleton Woolen Mills and Coyuchi organic cotton bedding and feather duvets, are delightful to snuggle under.
