A unique glamping shepherd’s hut for a York city break. Enjoy a relaxed holiday close to nature with the opportunity to explore York or rural Yorkshire, with great restaurants nearby.

The Shepherd’s Hut is full of character and located on a small working farm with beautiful countryside views. Enjoy a country ramble or soak up a little history and walled city life in York.

Buttercrambe Shepherd’s Hut is a peaceful escape with complimentary breakfast baskets and, if you stay in this cosy glamping retreat during the autumn/winter months, a flask of hot soup to enjoy with tasty bread will be provided on your arrival.

Enjoy glamping, yet with full electric inside the hut that powers vintage-style wall lamps, an electric stove heater and all your gadgets.

When you wake in the morning, snuggle in your bathrobe, put the kettle on and make your toast from the bread in your breakfaster hamper. Lounge on the day bed, relax and listen to music on the iPod dock and radio, all without leaving the sanctuary of the Shepherd’s Hut.

Indoor cooking facilities and your own shower room are a short stroll across the garden.

Relax under the stars in the evenings by the BBQ and fire pit or cosy up inside by the glow of the fire, then retire to your comfy double bed.

Best time to visit

Buttercrambe Shepherd's Hut is open all year round and the home comforts on offer mean that you can enjoy a break there even in the winter. We think it is best on a sunny spring day, when the newborn lambs are in the surrounding fields and the spring flowers are coming out along the hedgerows.

During the winter months, hot soup and bread are at the hut to welcome you and there are often offers available to guests wishing to stay at this time of year.
