Yuquiyú is a rustic retreat in the foothills of Puerto Rico’s El Yunque Rainforest that offers artisan-crafted treehouses with a balcony, designer furnishings, a granite kitchenette and a slate bath. The three-acre tropical garden comprises an organic farm, a cascading river and territorial rainforest views. Superbly located, Yuquiyú is just ten minutes from the heart of the rainforest, twenty minutes from famed Luquillo Beach, twenty-five minutes from the San Juan Airport and thirty minutes from Old San Juan. Sea turtle nesting sites, coral reefs, a bioluminescent lagoon and ancient petroglyphs are near.

Within a mango grove, La Cara de Indio (The Indian Face) is named for a Taino petroglyph not far from the property. The treehouse features 144 square feet of interior space and an 84-square-foot balcony overlooking a panorama of El Yunque Rainforest. Below the main level and reached by a short path from the entry is a 90-square-foot, private bath that offers a slate interior, Kohler fixtures and a rain shower with a similar view of the rainforest.

La Cascada

Within a grove of vanilla orchids, La Cascada (The Cascade) is named for the cascading river below. The treehouse features 121 square feet of interior space and a 240-square-foot balcony shaded by Royal Palms. The view of El Yunque Rainforest and the river is territorial. Below the main level and reached by a stairway from the balcony is a 81-square-foot, private bath that offers a slate interior, Kohler fixtures and a rain shower with an equally spectacular view.

  • How Do I Get There?

    Guests should be aware that a rental car is essential due to a lack of public transportation and taxi service in Puerto Rico. After arrival at the San Juan Airport and exiting Baggage Claim, take your car-rental agency’s shuttle to their office. From there, proceed east on Highway 26 and continue on Highway 66 until it ends. Exit right, take the first right up Road 186, left on Road 966, left on La Pirámide, first right and first right again to the top of the hill, where you will see the Yuquiyú sign.

    The GPS coordinates are: 18°21’06.70” N 65°48’36.00”W (18.351947 -65.810002).

Cancellation Policy:


Cancellation: Full payment by credit card is required to guarantee your reservation. Although there are no refunds, you may reschedule, subject to availability, if you cancel your reservation in writing at least two weeks in advance.

  • Check-in is at 3 pm and check-out is at 12 pm
  • Yuquiyú is meat free (any kind of animal) and smoke free. They ask guests to observe those principles while on the property (there is a smoking zone at the entrance).
